On Friday I took Mark and Sadie on a surprise outing. I didn't tell Mark what we were doing only that I was going to pick him up at school and go to a secret location/locations. He was going crazy all day wondering what I had in store for the night. Many guesses were made. But he never figured it out. So after about an hour of traffic I picked him up and we headed over to the beautiful Japanese and Italian gardens at Maymont. Since I was in unexpected traffic for so long we only had a half an hour there but we plan on going back soon. For all you Richmonders who have not yet bean there: I recommend. Very pretty. After our jaunt through the gardens we had a lovely picnic at Byrd park. Nothing too fancy, just some Sheppard's pie, mangoes and grapes. It was so nice to be outside. I long Spring time-- always have, always will. Sadie loved being out side. We have been locked up all winter so I think she is fascinated with all the sounds and light that are outside. After our picnic we headed over to the science museum where the astronomical society was having a night watch. It's a bunch of astronomy dorks with their telescopes checking out the moon, Saturn, Mars and other fun stuff in space. It was really fun. It was crazy to see Saturn. It looks so fake. I think Mark and Sadie really enjoyed my surprise outing I planned for them. I know I really did.

We were trying to find this video earlier, but we couldn't...now we found it. Just as funny as we remembered.

It's 10:55 PM. Do you know where your car is?

Ashley and I received some terrible news today. We had always trusted our car (who is nicknamed "Sal"). We had no reason not to trust her. I guess we had been blind to all the warning signs. Then today we found ourselves in the middle of every car owner's worst nightmare: a letter that convicted our car of speeding. I wouldn't have believed it, but there was proof! Proof that our car, our little Sal, was sneaking around late at night speeding around Washington DC. I felt so betrayed. And to think that this is just what got photographed. Who knows what else our little car has gotten into... maybe expired registration, maybe broken tail light, maybe even a misdemeanor! Well I hope that others can learn from this. Keep an eye on your car, stay close, so this type of thing won't happen to you.

Just kidding. We thought it was so funny to get a letter like this. Our car looks suspicious and sneaky in the pictures that came with the citation. Our friends borrowed our car when we were in DC, and they told us they thought they got photographed. No big deal. This was a few weeks ago, so I kind of forgot about it. Let's hope this behavior is just a phase that all cars go through.

Happy Birthday Mark and Drew!

Mark and Drew share the same birthday (but a 2 year difference). We went to dinner and then showed our skills on the alley. We don't go bowling too often, but when we do go we wish that we would go more often. So much fun. I know I shouldn't be too proud of this, but I think I bowled my best ever that I can remember: 102. Hey, I broke 100. Mark bowled 147. Birthday luck. I swear that the people that were bowling next to us were pro's. They were shining their bowling balls each time. I think only pro's do that.
So every time we go out to dinner with Sadie she is really good until the food comes out. I think she wants real human food. I actually went to Arby's today and she tried to steal my fries. I think she secretly knows what she is missing. the smell tells her so. Soon enough, Sadie, soon enough. Unfortunately for her she is allergic to anything with cow's milk in it. Which of course is in, like, everything. Yes, it has been challenging. I nurse her so that means no dairy for me at all. It's been crazy.

Later that week we had some friends over for some birthday dessert. Brownie Sundays. Yum Yum!

Can't you tell how into the show they are? Over Conference weekend we went and spent the weekend with our great friends the Hunts. I went to high school with Vanessa. They are from California but Paul is working in DC for the summer. They have a sweet pad in Dupont Circle which is in the city. City life sure was fun for a weekend. We tried out some authentic Peruvian food and Asian food. I actually really liked what I got at the Peruvian place so much that I went home and recreated it. I will blog about that later. You have to try it. Mark and I decided that we love eating food from different countries so when we came home to Richmond we went out for Korean the next day. We plan on trying food from all countries by the time we die. I don't know if that is possible. We just love food. Who doesn't?

We went to Mount Vernon. You know, only the first president of the USA's crib. Good stuff. It is seriously so beautiful there. I wouldn't mind having a huge home on a huge river with a huge lawn. When the boys went to the preistood session of confernce Van, Abbi, Sadie and I hung out back at their apartment. Good times. Oh, and on Friday we went to the temple. Van and Paul watched Sadie for us and then we watched Abbi while they went. It worked out great.

So we totally got a picture of her smiling. It seems every time we put the camera in her face she decides to stops smiling. So I am very pleased we caught her.
