London Pics

London will be 3 weeks old tomorrow, so I think it's time for a post. At her 2 week check-up my little piggy weighed in at 8 lb. 1 oz and measured 21.2 inches long. She sure loves to eat. London is the sleepiest little baby ever. I swear the first 2 weeks she slept non-stop. I had to wake her up every single time to nurse. Even in the night. Unfortuanltly I see this slowly ending. She still sleeps a ton but not like those first 2 weeks. This is so differnt from Sadie. Sadie kept us up all night long and I never thought I would ever sleep again. So it's nice having a little slug. But for some reason even though she has been sleeping through the night, I am still so dang tired all the time. 2 kids sure wears me out. I don't think I ever realized how easy I had it with one kid. I feel like I have been in survival mode the past 3 weeks, I am finally starting to get the hang of things. It didn't help that when London was only 10 day's old, Mark left for a week to go listen to Dental lectures in Mississippi, and he left on my birthday which made for a super emotional week. I am so glad I am not a single mom, that was pure torture. I am so glad he is home now and I am semi-sane again. But anyway I am loving having London in our family, she really is such a little sweetie. Every morning when Sadie wakes up, first thing she asks is "where is baby onion?" And we run into my room and wake that slug up. And then the rest of the day Sadie basically ignores her. With an occasional "where is baby onion?" London is a really mellow, easy baby, I feel so blessed. It is a little hard to spend as much time with her as I did with Sadie, just because I am juggling 2 girls. I feel like she already is growing too fast and I need to enjoy every little second. I sure love my little angels. Here are some pictures of my little cutie pie over the past few weeks... Lots more to come.

It was hard to get some with her eyes open because she was always asleep. Oh, I think she so stinkin' cute!!

I love her chubby cheeks and double chin!

This is one of London's classic looks that she likes to give. The squinty eye, the furrowed brow, the curled lip... classic, classic, classic.

Introducing London Jane Olsen!!
Born Thursday October 8th 2009 at 1:54pm
7 lbs. 9.7oz 19 inches long

London's Birthday
We are so excited that our sweet little London is finally here. She is such a special little girl and we feel so blessed to have her in our family. I can't believe that we have two beautiful little girls. We feel like we are on top of the world. We love these little girls so much and hope we can be the best parents and give them all the love we can.
Here is London's birthday story:
We had an induction date set for Thursday October 8th, but Tuesday night I was up all night with painful contractions. I was so convinced that I was going to have her the next day, but Wednesday came and they went away, so I tried everything I could to try and get those contractions going again... but nothing came. The doctors wanted to induce me because with Sadie my water broke and she came an hour later. So they were scared that I would have this baby in a car somewhere so they wanted to make sure in case this was a fast delivery that I had her safe in the hospital. So that is the reason for the induction. Anyway, I really wanted to try going into labor on my own but that didn't happen. Thursday came and we went to the hospital. They broke my water around noon and gave me some pitocin. The contractions started getting all crazy so I asked for my epidural and the lady comes in gives me the epidural while I'm freaking out in pain. Now epidural is in (still in pain), time goes by (still in pain), contractions maybe went down in pain a little bit and legs are a little numb (but Im still in pain). A little time goes by I start freaking out and yelling how it still hurts and how it burns. At that time everyone runs in and the nurse says "that's because it's time to have a baby." I freak out thinking "but what about my epidural?" No time for that: I push for about 10 minutes and out comes little London at 1:54 pm. Another super fast delivery. And wow, that hurt!! You all-natural people are crazy. So basically I don't think my epidural worked all that great. But I'm so glad she is here and safe and sound.

Family of 4!

Cute little dimples and chubby cheeks
Notice the bruised hand above? If you look closely you may see three needle stick marks (and two more on the other hand). The nurse said "We had to take blood from her heel because we had a hard time finding her veins." Really? What a surprise. Maybe that's because she is a teeny tiny teenie weenie little itsy bitsy baby.

Sadie meeting her sister for the first time. She was so excited when she walked in the room. My whole pregnancy she would call her "baby onion" because she can't say her L's, so when she walked in she kept saying, "baby onion, baby onion." She was very happy to look at her and hold her for about 30 seconds at a time. After that, she'd say "all done," and push London away.

Of course, after the initial excitement wore off, Sadie was bored out of her mind. Luckily there are plenty of things to do in Mommy's hospital room.

We love our girls!!

Sadie loving her some Lundy Lulu. Such cute sisters!

London's first time in the tanning bed, or... the alien autopsy
This needs no explanation...well, maybe it does. London was at risk for high levels of bilirubin, so she got to undergo phototherapy. You'd think that any fabulous baby would love a good tan, but London was a little fussy all night because of the freakish glow beating down on her. We had to stay up all night with her the second night keeping her binky in place to keep her calm. That turned into a pretty long night. We went home on Saturday and had to come back on Sunday thinking she might have to get more treatments or be readmitted, but luckily she didn't have to and she is doing great. I think she will miss those fabulous tanning goggles.

And then we all finally got to come home...

...the end.

20 months

I think it is so crazy how much love you can have for your own child. Every day I spend with Sadie I feel incredibly blessed to be her mom and be in her life. It seriously blows me away how much love I have for her. I know this is kind of cheesy but I love this little girl SO much. I really can't explain it. Anyway, here are a few facts about Sadie right now...

-She is talking non-stop. She says any word we ask her to and is even talking in sentences. She is very easy to understand and always lets me know what she wants. I feel like we communicate really well with her.
-She loves to sing (one of her favorites is 'Elmo Song;" she can sing the whole thing by her self) sometimes she trades other people's names for Elmo's. It's too funny.
-She loves to dance. For some reason this girl loves to listen to "Carmen" which is this opera-type song and The Blue Danube Waltz. I guess it started when we would waltz around the house with her months and months ago kind of as a joke and know she always asks to listen and dance to Carmen and all this classical music.
-She loves to help me clean and cook. I can't make dinner without her on the counter helping me. (Jello and eggs are some of her favorite things to cook)
-She can't wait for her little sister to be born. She talks about her all the time.
-She is crazy about animals, always has been. But recently she asks to go to the pet store all the time.
- I started taking her to gymnastics and she loves to walk on the balance beam and jump on the trampoline
-She is still a shrimp. Less than 5% for weight and in the 10th% for height. She is 20 months and only weighs 18 pounds. The doctors still have me slapping tons of butter on all her food.
-There are these 2 older boys across the street and they are always outside playing ball. When we go out in the front she says "hey guys" over and over and it gets louder and louder each time until they acknowledge her. I think they kind of ignore her. But it's really funny

I could go on and on, but there is a little glimpse about Sadie right now.

A freak show... (or has no one in the entire Panhandle ever seen a pregnant chick?)

Mark is coming along nicely, too.

I thought it was about time for a little update on the pregnancy. My due date is this Friday but I am scheduled to be induced Thursday. Maybe she will come before then, who knows? Last Thursday I had my last appointment and I am a little over 3 centimeters dilated and 60% effaced. My mom is coming Monday. So this little girl can come anytime after Monday and that would be alright by me. I am so ready to meet her and so is Sadie... she won't stop talking about her. I think she is so excited to be a big sister. I can't wait to see these two together.

So about the title... I have had more people comment on me being pregnant than you could imagine. It really is insane. Mark has told me many times he can't take me out in public any more. I have had people literally stop me and tell me how amazed they are at how huge my belly is. This has been going on ever since we moved here. For months now I have heard comments like this... "Is today your due date?", "twins?", "looks like you were due weeks ago" are you hiding a basketball under there?" I had a little boy try and lift my shirt up and told me how fat my belly was. I have had random strangers rub my belly. We cant go anywhere with out at least 5 people stopping us. I really feel like a show. It's pretty funny. I really don't remember ever getting very many comments and looks when I was pregnant with Sadie in Richmond. I know I'm huge, but still, very strange.

Sea Side

Have you ever seen the movie "The Truman show"? I haven't seen it in years, but I remember him living in this perfect little town with perfect cookie cutter houses with perfect little yards. Well, we went and took a little visit to Seaside where the movie was filmed and it is exactly that. It was so picturesque that we think that the town had its own dress code. Women were prancing around with sundresses and fancy hats. Men were wearing polo shirts and salmon colored shorts (probably J. Crew), with loafers or deck shoes (no socks, of course). Even the kids (who are referred to as "children") were wearing their sunday best and so well-behaved. It was like a little dream town. Anyway, we visited the beach. Very beautiful, of course. We split 1 taco that cost $17, and then got about 1/2 tsp of ice cream for $5. Well, maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but note to self: pack lunch next time. As dusk set in, we sat on a big amphitheater-like lawn in the middle of town and listened to some local bluesy band. Pretty fun. The lawn was so nicely mowed that it was like sitting on a putting green. It was a perfect little day in a perfect little town.

Next time I will have to get more pictures of the perfect little town.

We also had a little fun trying to get Sadie to model.
