Introducing London Jane Olsen!! Born Thursday October 8th 2009 at 1:54pm 7 lbs. 9.7oz 19 inches long
London's Birthday We are so excited that our sweet little London is finally here. She is such a special little girl and we feel so blessed to have her in our family. I can't believe that we have two beautiful little girls. We feel like we are on top of the world. We love these little girls so much and hope we can be the best parents and give them all the love we can. Here is London's birthday story: We had an induction date set for Thursday October 8th, but Tuesday night I was up all night with painful contractions. I was so convinced that I was going to have her the next day, but Wednesday came and they went away, so I tried everything I could to try and get those contractions going again... but nothing came. The doctors wanted to induce me because with Sadie my water broke and she came an hour later. So they were scared that I would have this baby in a car somewhere so they wanted to make sure in case this was a fast delivery that I had her safe in the hospital. So that is the reason for the induction. Anyway, I really wanted to try going into labor on my own but that didn't happen. Thursday came and we went to the hospital. They broke my water around noon and gave me some pitocin. The contractions started getting all crazy so I asked for my epidural and the lady comes in gives me the epidural while I'm freaking out in pain. Now epidural is in (still in pain), time goes by (still in pain), contractions maybe went down in pain a little bit and legs are a little numb (but Im still in pain). A little time goes by I start freaking out and yelling how it still hurts and how it burns. At that time everyone runs in and the nurse says "that's because it's time to have a baby." I freak out thinking "but what about my epidural?" No time for that: I push for about 10 minutes and out comes little London at 1:54 pm. Another super fast delivery. And wow, that hurt!! You all-natural people are crazy. So basically I don't think my epidural worked all that great. But I'm so glad she is here and safe and sound.

Cute little dimples and chubby cheeks
Notice the bruised hand above? If you look closely you may see three needle stick marks (and two more on the other hand). The nurse said "We had to take blood from her heel because we had a hard time finding her veins." Really? What a surprise. Maybe that's because she is a teeny tiny teenie weenie little itsy bitsy baby.

Sadie meeting her sister for the first time. She was so excited when she walked in the room. My whole pregnancy she would call her "baby onion" because she can't say her L's, so when she walked in she kept saying, "baby onion, baby onion." She was very happy to look at her and hold her for about 30 seconds at a time. After that, she'd say "all done," and push London away.

Of course, after the initial excitement wore off, Sadie was bored out of her mind. Luckily there are plenty of things to do in Mommy's hospital room.
We love our girls!!

Sadie loving her some Lundy Lulu. Such cute sisters!

London's first time in the tanning bed, or... the alien autopsy This needs no explanation...well, maybe it does. London was at risk for high levels of bilirubin, so she got to undergo phototherapy. You'd think that any fabulous baby would love a good tan, but London was a little fussy all night because of the freakish glow beating down on her. We had to stay up all night with her the second night keeping her binky in place to keep her calm. That turned into a pretty long night. We went home on Saturday and had to come back on Sunday thinking she might have to get more treatments or be readmitted, but luckily she didn't have to and she is doing great. I think she will miss those fabulous tanning goggles. |
And then we all finally got to come home...
...the end.

PS (London is my secret weapon name for a little girl, but being married to someone named France may be posing a serious threat to face underpants jokes, who knows if we will be brave and push forward with the name someday or not) hehehe.
