As you may have heard I did get to go to Jamaica on a week-long service project through the dental school. It was a lot of fun, and kind of nuts. Here are a few facts:
Fact #1) No other dental school has an international annual service project (but if Oprah started a dental school, I bet it would).
I discovered that this is not a real fact.
Fact #2) If you haven't seen as many pigs and goats as you want, try going to Jamaica.
Fact #3) Cavities can be caused by lack of dental education, failure to brush teeth, and sitting around a sugar cane field your whole life gnawing on cane.
Fact #4) I have never had so much quality time with shirtless dudes on the beach.
Seriously, though, it was a great time and we were able to do some good. Some tourism highlights include Dunn's River Falls, a bioluminescent bay, and a 7-man (literally) train down a waterslide at Margaritaville. It was nice to come home to my lovely wife and little beast.

That sounds awesome. I did a service trip to Mexico on the Baja peninsula a couple years back but Jamaica sounds about 10 times cooler. Which reminds me- where did you get fact #1? Loma Linda does about 20 dental mission trips per year. I think they're about to re-name the school Oprah Linda.
You're wife mentioned externships - are you applying to a specialty? If so good luck.
Anyway, I'll quite hogging the comment section on your blog.
ok Benji you got me. ha ha. Yes, I make up facts. for externships we rotate through free clinics in undersevered communities in VA. just 4-6 days per site. it's been cool. what are your plans?
Oh, I see, you're part of the 71% of dentists who make up facts.
I'm just going to graduate and try to get a job somewhere. Lately we've been thinking Idaho.
That sounds like a cool rotation program. Our administration tried to start something like that but they went about it all wrong and we almost had a big mutiny. You know, because Loma Linda is actually on a boat.
