Italy-first stop: Pompeii

Aug 16th 2012
Our most recent trip was what you might call a "babymoon."  You know, one last awesome trip before a baby is born. Because traveling with 3 kids will probably be tricky, but traveling with 2 is so easy.
Anyway, first stop: Pompeii. We had a wonderful, hot, sticky, time wandering around this well-preserved and huge ancient city.  When we came across the famous bodies in the garden Sadie freaked out. She became preoccupied with the history of Pompeii and spent most of the time worrying about how she would have escaped the destruction. The ruins (and bodies) raised all sorts of questions with her about kids, families, little girls, etc that had to flee for their lives.  We probably had a good answer for about 5% of her questions.
Some type of ancient fast-food establishment (Sadie's favorite). And the dreaded bodies of the poor souls (Sadie's least favorite).

Mount Vesuvius in the background

We think this was original paint.  London kept us informed with her audioguide.

These are ruins from some columns or arches or something.  The girls quickly recognized them as ancient pianos.

Those "bodies" are freaky - I'm with Sadie on this one.
